This is a 6 days Trek. This Trek starts from Paro, above the National Museum and ends in Thimphu passing some beautiful high altitude lakes. This route goes to High Altitude and is moderately strenuous. The highest point is 3800 Meters and it is a popular trek Route. On your journey to Paro, the panoramic views of the Himalayas are sensational, including the Everest and other famous Himalayan Peaks. The approach through the Bhutanese foothills and the landing, including a few steep turns to land at the tiny airstrip of Paro becomes more exciting as you enter Bhutan. Day 2. Paro: After breakfast, excursion to Taktshang Monastery. The primary Lhakhang was built surrounding Guru Rimpoche’s meditation cave in the 1684 by Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay. This incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava flew here on the back of a tigress. Day 3. Paro - Jele Dzong (Start of Trek): The trek begins above the National Museum. Walk the slopes till we reach the Jele Dzong. If the weather is clear the Paro valley and the snow-capped mountains can be seen. The campsite is near the old Jele Dzong. The Dzong can be visited if the care taker is present. Altitude 3,350m; Distance 10 Km; Time 3 - 4 hours. Day 4. Jele Dzong - Jangchulakha: The trail starts with a short climb and then passes through a thick alpine forest of rhododendron and gradually climbs till we reach camp. You may see yak herders around your campsite. Altitude 3,700m; Distance 12 Km; Time 4 - 5 hours. Day 5. Jangchulakha - Jimilangtso: The trail follows the ridge. Our camp is close to Lake Jimilangtso. These lakes are known for their giant sized trout. Altitude 3,800m; Distance 16 Km; Time 6-7 hours. Day 6. Jimilangtso – Simkota: Day 9. Thimphu: After breakfast, visit the Sangaygang view point, from where the bird’s eye view of the Thimphu Valley can be seen. Visit the Takin Preserve Centre. Takin is the National animal of Bhutan. Then visit the Drupthob Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan followed by the National Memorial Chorten (1974) built in honour of our late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Day 10. Thimphu – Punakha - Wangduephodrang: (2 – 3 Hours) After breakfast, drive to Punakha. Stop at Dochula pass to view the higher Himalayas, if the weather is clear. Visit the Chhimi Lhakhang on the way to Punakha. The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. Day 11. Wangduephodrang – Thimphu: After breakfast, drive to Thimphu. After lunch, visit the Royal silver smiths and Bhutanese paper factory followed by shopping for souvenirs in the shops of Thimphu. Over night in Hotel. |
